SDG 6: clean water and sanitation

Since 2018, Ambius has been a proud ambassador for the Made Blue Foundation; an organization dedicated to providing clean drinking water in regions where access is not guaranteed. This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting SDG Goal 6: clean water and sanitation for all.

Our approach mirrors the volume of water used to care for our plants with an equal measure of water donations. For every litre of water Ambius uses to maintain its plants (an average of 70 litres per planter each year) we donate one litre of clean drinking water to projects in water-scarce communities.

Through this partnership, we have donated over 172 million litres of clean water to the Made Blue Foundation. This provides thousands of families with access to essential water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation. Access to clean water supports daily life and helps unlock social and educational opportunities. With reliable drinking water nearby, community members can dedicate more time to education and employment. Furthermore, drinking water facilities are often constructed at local schools, with maintenance revenues reinvested into improving education.

For our clients, this means every planter installed makes a tangible contribution to a social project. In this way, we actively deliver on our corporate social responsibility while making a direct impact on global drinking water access.

To ensure our own water usage remains highly efficient, we deploy targeted conservation solutions across our greenhouses and offices. In our greenhouses, we use a water purification system that continuously circulates standing water. This prevents algae growth and enables water reuse. In our head office, sensor-operated, water-saving taps prevent unnecessary water consumption.

Additionally, Ambius and Made Blue partner during the festive season: for every Christmas tree selected through Ambius, 2,000 litres of drinking water are donated to development projects - matching the average water required for cultivation and care.
